Abstract

This study explores the critical importance of Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM) and planning in the tourism industry through an extensive literature review. The research methodology involves a comprehensive analysis of existing academic and industry sources, with a focus on understanding the relationship between SHRM practices and organizational performance in the tourism industry. The review emphasizes that SHRM plays a pivotal role in enhancing profitability, sustainability, and operational efficiency. By aligning human resource strategies with organizational goals, tourism businesses can gain a competitive advantage, achieve long-term stability, and improve overall performance. The literature also highlights the primary challenge of attracting and retaining skilled employees who possess the necessary expertise and mindset for success in the tourism industry. The study further explores the benefits of strategic HR planning, such as improved workforce alignment, optimized resource allocation, and enhanced adaptability to industry trends. Additionally, the research emphasizes the proactive nature of SHRM in preparing for potential disruptions, such as staff shortages or emergencies, ensuring organizational resilience and continuity of service. Furthermore, the research explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence as a strategic mechanism to modernize workforce management and optimize organizational efficiency. This study addresses the following research question: To what extent do Strategic Human Resource Management practices and Artificial Intelligence integration contribute to organizational performance and competitive advantage in the tourism industry? The results underscore that effective HR planning is essential for controlling labor costs, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining profitability in this labor-intensive industry. Overall, the study concludes that SHRM is a cornerstone of sustainable growth and competitive success in the tourism industry.
